Paris In A Day – Like A Local

Sep. 13, 2023

Parisian Bistro

What is the best way to do Paris in a day? Well, there is no right or wrong way to do Paris. Whichever way you choose, would be pretty good because – it’s Paris! How “wrong” can you get it?! But we can suggest our favorite things to do in 24 hours in this magical city, the non touristic way. Let’s go!

Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, paris

CAFES AND BISTROS

A good way to start is breakfast! Our favorite meal of the day as you might have figured out hence the name of the blog. In trendy Marais, Cafe Charlot’s Norwegian Egg Benedict is one of our favorites, and Cafe Creme for comforting sweet Pancakes. There’s La Perle and Le Progress, which are always filled with interesting characters, great for having a coffee and people watching. If your’e in the mood to shop start in Merci which combine coffee and shopping in the best way possible. On Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, located in the 10th Arrodissement, there are several great places for breakfast we love: Le Transistor and 5 Pailles, and not too far from there there’s also Immersion Republique. Take into consideration that on the weekends there are usually lines everywhere, depending on the season and Fashion Week, so arrive early. In Pigalle, on the 9th district there’s KB Cofee Roasters, a great spot to get a boost of caffeine and wifi with a hipster vibe.

MUSEUMS

For a good dose of modern art our absolute must is Centre Georges Pompidou. On the way up you get a beautiful view of Paris including the Eiffel tower and the Sacre Couer. On the first Sundays of the month the entry is free, but it might be a bit too crowded. Another great modern art museum is Bourse de Commerce. The building is so beautiful in itself, that it’s competing with the art shown on it’s walls sometimes. No doubt you will get a dose of inspiration and nourishment for your eyes.

VINTAGE

Thrifting is a big thing in Paris. There’s SO many vintage shops, second hand shops and flea markets it’s really hard to avoid it. Here are some of our favorites:

In the 10th Arrodissement there’s the iconic Thank God I’m A VIP. A great selection of bags, coats and sweaters in a great condition and mostly reasonable prices, but definitely not on the cheap side. Super enjoyable browse and great atmosphere. Next to it you can also check out Depot vente luxe – Louise Paris which is also a great place for second hand designer ready-to-wear finds. In the 2nd Arrodissement there’s the great Kiliwatch, with basically has everything you might want and in great prices. On the weekend you should definitely check out Saint Ouen Flea Market. You can find everything vintage here and in a great variety and condition. from clothes to antique furniture whatever you want you can find there. Make sure you stop for coffee in Le REcyclerie, also serving Sunday brunch, that you can enjoy on the beautiful garden and recharge your energy for the day.

CLUBS AND BARS

One place that we recon is a must is Silencio Club. Designed by David Lynch, you will get a very unique experience for all of your senses. The design is truly genius in all aspects, mysterious, fancy yet cozy atmosphere, great sound system, and great dj’s every Thursday and Friday. For a more casual evening you can start with a snack and beer at Ground Control and then walk to Supersonic, to catch a live gig. The entrance is free. For the ultimate clubbing experience, check out La Station – Gare des mines. This place is definitely not main stream, electronic avant-garde techno that can be challenging at times, but still a great place to let go and dance your pain away.

And Finally, there is always the seine river side. Make sure to grab a bite or a drink in of the many cute bars along the seine around sundown, a good spot is next to Sully-Morland metro, or Petit Bain, which is a club with live shows and parties. You can also walk on Canal Saint Martin and stop at Point Ephemere for a casual beer or a more fancy drink at Le comptoir General.

There’s more than enough here for one day, but we reassure you that you will enjoy anything you choose from this list, It has been tested and approved!

So this is our take on how to see Paris in a day, enjoy!
